ICoBio IPB, FF Unhas Lecturer Achieved the Best Oral Presenter Predicate

One lecturer at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Hasanuddin University, Firzan Nainu, won the title of Best Oral Presenter at a conference entitled The 3rd International Conference on Biosciences (3rd ICoBio) held by the Department of Biology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), on August 8, 2019. This achievement was obtained for his presentation entitled Protective Signatures of Roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) Calyx against Staphylococcus aureus in Drosophila model of infection.

This study aims to look at the effect of the Latin Rosella plant Hibiscus sabdariffa L. on Staphylococcus aureus. This research was conducted in vivo by utilizing the animal model of the fruit fly (Drosophila melanogaster). Fruit flies are infected with Staphylococcus aureus, then flies for those infected have been treated with Rosella plants.

ICoBio is a biennial event organized by the Department of Biology, Bogor Institute of Agriculture, where the theme this year is Innovation in Bioscience towards Industrial Revolution 4.0. Hundreds of researchers attended this event to present the latest research that has been done.

Firzan Nainu is a lecturer at FF Unhas who earned his doctorate at Kanazawa University. He is an expert in the use of animal models for fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster). Various interesting studies have been produced by the Head of Pharmacology – Toxicology Laboratory.
