Percussion Music at Inauguration of BEM of Pharmacy Unhas
The inauguration of 2013 generation of Faculty of Pharmacy, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) which was taken place at Baruga AP Pettarani, Jl. Perintis Kemerdekaan, Makassar, Saturday (May 17 2014), exhibited percussion music. Percussion is a variant in music utilizing seconhand goods that can be found in our surroundings such as barrels, bottles, spoons, etc. These instruments will then be designed in such a way so that they can produce a tunable and structured sound.
In addition to percussion, the inauguration which was performed annually also showed various dances both traditional and modern dances. The theme of this event was “Potret Keragaman dalam Satu Genggam.” Some traditional dances exhibited were Tomanurung dance (Makassar dance), Pakkaja Tasi Dance (Buginese dance), while modern dances was Salsa dance.
Akhyar, as the committee chair, said that the main focus of the inauguration was the dancing, especially traditional dances. “It aims to re-accentuate the local cultures which have been eroded by time and started to be paid less attention by the people.” Besides dancing and percussion, the event involving 139 of 2013 generation also performed glowing up and scotchlite. The success of these two performance involved ultraviolet light and whitish outfit.
